Pātaua Outdoor Education and Recreation Trust (POERT) is a charitable trust offering a self-catering school camp facility for education outside the classroom, primarily to educational organisations and groups wanting to experience Northlands east coast. Parauwanui Beach, Pātaua North and Papuni Beach, Pātaua South are separated by Te Whangai Head inlet which lays below Pātaua Island Recreation  Reserve, where the ocean flows into the Pātaua Estuary. Pātaua offers a coastal mecca of white water surf combined with a sheltered estuary. Experiences abound at your doorstep - rock pools, kayaking, surfing, SUP, snorkelling and bridge jumping from our famous footbridge, along with land-based activities of cultural and ecological significance – pa sites, wetlands, native endangered birds, foreshore and dune preservation. Recently Kiwi has been released back into the area and is regularly monitored. Whichever way the wind is blowing, activities abound, both strenuous and subdued.
